Directions to Our Practice
If you've never been over to our practice before, here are two routes we recommend taking to get to us:
Get on US-311 heading east, and take that into Virginia all the way to US-58. Continue east on US-58/Riverside Dr. Turn left onto Park Ave (you'll see Danville Stadium Cinemas across the street). Immediately after the intersection with Piedmont Dr, turn right into our parking lot.
For a very different route, you could take Old State Hwy 87 out of Eden, then turn left onto Bethlehem Church Rd. Stay on that until the corner with Bethlehem United Methodist Church, then turn left onto Moir Mill Rd. Continue all the way until it makes a T with Guerrant Springs Rd. Turn right onto that, then left onto Mt Carmel Church Rd (which will then become Worsham Mill Rd). Keep going until the intersection with US-29 BUS, then turn left and get onto the main US-29. You'll stay on that all the way into Virginia, then cross the river on the Robertson Bridge (Piedmont Dr). Turn left on Park Ave then immediately right into our parking lot.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Eden, North Carolina, owes its historical roots to the mid-eighteenth century when it was part of a vast estate owned by William Byrd II, who aptly named his landholdings "The Land of Eden." Byrd had ambitions to establish a colony of Swiss Protestants in this area, aiming to create a thriving, self-sufficient community. Despite his efforts, including acquiring over 100,000 acres for this purpose, his plans fell through when a ship carrying settlers from Europe was tragically shipwrecked off the coast of Virginia. Following Byrd's death in 1744, the land transitioned through various hands and saw a gradual increase in yeoman settlers and the establishment of small farms.
In the 20th century, the communities of Leaksville, Draper, Spray, and the unincorporated Meadows Greens Sanitary District, which were part of the original "Land of Eden," voted to consolidate in 1967. The newly formed city was named Eden, reflecting the historical name given by Byrd. This consolidation marked a significant moment in the region's history, with Eden becoming the largest city in Rockingham County and continuing to celebrate its rich heritage while looking toward future growth and development.
